An Open Letter To Alberta Residents

An Open Letter To Alberta Residents

On June 24, Premier Horgan announced the commencement of Phase 3 of BC’s Restart Plan, allowing for non-essential travel throughout our province and for those in neighbouring provinces. Following this announcement, I would like to personally reach out with an invitation for you to visit Revelstoke this summer. The city of Revelstoke and Revelstoke Mountain Resort are now welcoming visitors and would love to have you experience the outdoor activities and adventure that Revelstoke is known for.

Ever since the Resort first opened its doors twelve years ago, our Albertan customers have been an integral influence to the success of the Resort and several local businesses. Given the concerns spurred by recent media coverage, I’d like to assure you that these stories are not reflective of the attitude of the majority of Revelstoke residents. Local businesses such as ourselves and other activity providers, restaurants and shops have been eagerly awaiting the announcement from Premier Horgan and couldn’t be more thrilled to have their support in welcoming you back to our little mountain town.

The vast majority of British Columbians and specifically, Revelstoke residents, recognize the impact that Albertans have on our economy and welcome them with open arms. For many of you, Revelstoke likely feels like home. Since moving here in 2008, I can attest to the hospitable nature of the Revelstoke community. Collectively, we share a passion for the outdoors, for nature and for our mountain pursuits. This passion is what brings us together. It is what fuels our spirit and helps us conquer adversity.

This Friday, June 26, we kick off summer operations at Revelstoke Mountain Resort. The line up of activities include the infamous Pipe Mountain Coaster, the new as of last year, Aerial Adventure Park, BC’s newest lift-accessed mountain bike trail network, Disc Golf, Axe Throwing, Sightseeing and Hiking. Personally, I’m excited to explore our new trail network and reconnect with the incredible natural environment on Mount Mackenzie.

Although we are resuming operations and offering a diverse line up of activities this summer, we can assure you, we will not be running ‘business as usual’. We recently launched Revelstoke Mountain Resort PureClean, an initiative with protocols and procedures dedicated to the health and safety of our guests and team members.

It is also important to note that our Provincial Health Officer, Dr. Bonnie Henry and our Premier, John Horgan, have advised us that Phase 3 of BC’s Restart Plan does not mean a return to normal. We must exceed caution, keep our hands clean, avoid gathering in large groups and stay home if we are feeling unwell. If you are planning a trip to Revelstoke this summer, we ask that you follow these guidelines accordingly.

Regardless of where your vacation plans take you, I wish you a fantastic summer filled with adventure, laughter, and good times. I look forward to seeing you back at Revelstoke Mountain Resort when the time is right for you. Until then, thank you for your continued support.
